ROUND 1 WINNERS AT MILL RIDE GC ON FRIDAY
8TH JUNE 2007
The first qualifying round took place on Friday 8th June at Mill Ride Golf
Club in Ascot. The weather was good and the scoring conditions were very
favourable. The event was a great success with 14 teams taking part, which
included golfers from HSBC, Barclays Capital, Lloyds TSB, Coutts, ICAP,
Tradition UK, Man Financial, Martin Brokers, Firstplus, Bank of Ireland,
Cantor Spreadfair and Money Markets International.
At the end of the day's play three teams were tied on 83 stableford points
so it went down to an official count back to determine the eventual winner.
All the scores were verified and John Scurlock-Davies and his team from
Coutts & Co were victorious with a marginally better back nine score than
Barclays Capital (captained by Simon Griffin) who came second and ICAP
(captained by Russell Lees) who finished in third place.
All three teams now qualify to play in The Grand Final on Friday 10th August
at The Grove in Hertfordshire, where the winning team will lift The Banks
and Brokers Golf Championship trophy and also receive the superb prize of a
trip to the exclusive Gloria Golf Resort in Turkey courtesy of Your Golf
Travel.com
Sahil Buta (R.P. Martin Brokers) took first place in the "Tradition UK
Longest Drive Challenge" and David Rickard, (Bank of Ireland), was the
winner of the "Nearest the Pin Contest sponsored by Money Markets
International" - receiving a case of Kleine Zalze wine for his wonderful
effort. In addition to the golf the Charity Raffle raised over £650 for
Oxfam.
The second qualifying round takes place on Friday 29th June at Foxhills Club
& Resort in Surrey and there are still a couple of team places available so
please book now to avoid missing out.
